To celebrate Pekin’s Bicentennial we are promoting our town’s historic buildings by creating Bicentennial History Markers that will be fixated to the exterior of participating buildings. Each marker will have a QR code that takes you to a website that gives the written history of that particular location/building. Residents and visitors can cure the curiosity of, “if these walls could talk” and will have access to self-guided history tours for years and years to come.

A map of these plaques will be available for viewing on June 15th at the Pekin Bicentennial Downtown Street Faire. All 22 buildings are in the downtown area (at this time) and provide a thorough understanding of just how much history is located in a couple city blocks. We hope that this creates a longing to continue to restore these buildings to last another 200 years.
