The Christmas Extravaganza started 20 years ago with maybe five small retail businesses. Cathy Homerin of Artistic Flowers and Mary Haynes, former owner of the Kountry Nook but now owns Maddie Mae’s,  are the original members of this event. It was formed so that the small retail shops could work together to bring more customers in through their doors and to be able to afford a larger advertising budget. All the costs are divided by however many shops are participating. 

Over the 20 years, some of the businesses have closed or moved, but every year one or more new businesses have joined in with this Amazing event! This year we have five new shops joining! Olivia’s Playhouse,  Bear’s Bites Boutique, Shindigs, Take Two Resale Boutique, and Timeless Photography! For our 20th year, Christmas Extravaganza 2024 will have 16 shops participating—the largest ever!..

This is a Shop Hop Event. Customer can pick up a punch card at their first stop, and then during the 2-Day Event, they will hop all over Pekin to get their card punched at the participating shops. But along the way, they will be able to enjoy the refreshments, specials, door prizes, and fun each shop will offer.

Once the customer has their punch card completely filled up, they will leave it at their last store. After the event is over, the shop owners bring all their punch cards to one location and One Grand Prize Winner is Drawn. That Winner receives a $25 Gift Certificate from each and every business...a total of $400 this year!
