Pekin Township Is Here to Help

Oct 29, 2024 01:52PM ● By Shannon Saal, Pekin Township Supervisor

Pekin Township celebrates “Wonderful World” of community involvement. We offer such programs as:   Holiday Meals starting in 1986; Food Pantry starting in 1988; Senior Breakfast Club starting in 1994; and Senior Lunches starting in 1994.

Events for Children sponsored by Pekin Township include Children’s Summer Lunch program, Children’s Spirit of Christmas, Children’s Breakfast with Santa, and Halloween lunch.

Pekin Township will be starting some Senior Classes including: First aid class, fire prevention class, medical awareness, nutrition class, crochet and quilting class, and ceramic and painting classes.

Our General and Emergency Assistance program provides for all Pekin Township residents. All applicants must meet the general assistance and emergency assistance requirements per the state statute. These programs continue to succeed today because of the commitment from our volunteers and the donations from various individuals and companies. It is very encouraging to see the involvement of volunteers assisting and committing to the Pekin Township and its success. Thank-you for making these programs a true community effort.
