Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce to Host the 27th Annual R. David Tebben Community Leadership Academy

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the launch of the 27th Annual R. David Tebben Community Leadership Academy, a transformative program aimed at fostering leadership and community engagement in honor of the late Mayor R. David Tebben. Known for his tireless dedication and vision for the city, Tebben’s legacy will now inspire future generations to take active roles in shaping their community.

The Academy, designed for individuals eager to make a difference, will provide participants with the tools, knowledge, and connections necessary to lead effectively. Through a combination of workshops, guest speakers, and community tours, participants will gain insights into local government, nonprofit management, economic development, and more.

“The R. David Tebben Community Leadership Academy embodies the spirit of Mayor Tebben’s leadership,” said Amy McCoy, Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “This program will empower emerging leaders to carry forward his commitment to community improvement and collaboration.”

The Academy is open to residents of all backgrounds, with a focus on inclusivity and diverse perspectives. Sessions will run from January 21st to March 27th, 2025, meeting twice weekly for ten weeks. Upon completion, participants will join an alumni network dedicated to ongoing civic engagement. This program is made possible through the support of The Dirksen Congressional Center, The City of Pekin, Pekin Insurance, and Carle Health.

Applications for the inaugural class are now open and will be accepted through December 13, 2024. For more information or to apply, visit https://pekinchamber.com/leadership-academy/ or contact Amy McCoy at [email protected].

This initiative represents a significant step forward in strengthening civic involvement and ensuring Pekin continues to thrive under inspired and informed leadership.
