Pekin Rotary Awards Grants to Support Local Community Programs

The Pekin Rotary Club continues its mission of service by awarding four grants to local organizations dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. These grants support programs that foster education, emotional well-being, and recovery services, ensuring that individuals of all ages have access to essential resources.
Tazewell County Health Department’s 21st Century Schools Program
The 21st Century Schools Program provides an enriching afterschool environment where children can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. With a grant from Pekin Rotary, the program will be able to purchase a variety of age-appropriate literature to inspire a love of reading and support literacy development among its participants.
Illinois River Valley Special Recreation Association (IRVSRA)
IRVSRA serves individuals with disabilities by offering inclusive recreational programs. A grant from Pekin Rotary will help establish a calming and sensory corner for participants who may need a space to manage their emotions. This area will provide calming and mindfulness techniques, allowing individuals to de-escalate and rejoin group activities for a positive experience.
Teen Challenge Illinois – Pekin Men’s Center
Teen Challenge Illinois operates a 12-month residential recovery program for men struggling with addiction. To assist in this crucial effort, Pekin Rotary awarded the organization a grant to help underwrite the cost of the program, offering hope and a pathway to recovery for local men in need.
Pekin Altrusa
Dedicated to improving literacy in young students, Pekin Altrusa provides an afterschool reading and tutoring program for kindergarten through third-grade students. With a grant from Pekin Rotary, the program will expand its efforts to help children read at their grade level, giving them a strong foundation for future academic success.
Pekin Rotary Club is proud to support these organizations and their invaluable contributions to the community. Through these grants, Rotary continues its commitment to education, emotional well-being, and recovery services, reflecting the club’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
