The Pekin YWCA will be offering a 3 day blended learning Lifeguard Certification Course May 9-11, 2025.  The cost is $325. Registration ends at 12pm (noon) May 2.

Applicants must be at least 15 years of age. It is a blended learning format, so there are approximately 9 hours of online coursework to do to be ready for the in-person sessions on Friday 4-7p, Saturday 8a-8p and Sunday 8a-6p, May 9-11. All three days of in-person training and the pre-course work are required for certification. Applicants will need a swimsuit (or two), a towel, water, drinks, sack lunches, and snacks for each day. A refrigerator is available. Goggles & flip flops are optional but recommended. Once registered we will need a valid email address which will be used to communicate, register & certify in the American Red Cross program for employers & pools to verify certification.

All lifeguarding participants must complete the required swimming skills prerequisite prior to taking the course. The prerequisite skills assessments include a swim-tread-swim and a timed event sequence.

Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding certification course will be issued the Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification valid for 2 years.
